πΊThird graders at Savin Rock practiced geography skills with a large map of Connecticut. They identified rivers, lakes, cities, and the boarders of Connecticut.

West Haven Public Schools is providing breakfasts and lunches free of charge under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) through the Child Nutrition Department. The students in West Haven will continue to receive free benefits throughout the school year. The school districts that are in jeopardy of their funds running out are not on the CEP program. All West Haven Public Schools will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch for the duration of the school year.
In October, Savin Rock School, along with the other elementary schools, had hat day to benefit the West Haven Fire Department. The elementary schools raised $779 which was matched by UNH. With this money 400 smoke detectors were purchased and divided among the firehouses. Thanks to Lowe's for helping order all the smoke detectors, all the students who participated, and Mrs. Cohen for organizing this fundraiser!

βββοΈβ Math Night for Savin Rock and Washington was held Nov. 29. Students played over 15 games, and were able to bring them home to practice their math skills more. Lots of fun and learning was had by all that attended!
For the next 3 weeks, a giant map of Connecticut will make its rounds to each elementary school in West Haven as 3rd grade classrooms will take turns viewing the map! Pictured here are 3rd graders at Washington learning all about their state and surrounding towns! πΊ π§
The fourth grades celebrated Friendsgiving before Thanksgiving break! They interviewed classmates to build friendships, designed their own parade floats, made turkeys, and completed Thanksgiving themed math problems.
