In honor of Educator Appreciation Week (May 8 – May 12), the West Haven Board of Education, the West Haven Federation of Teachers, and the Paraprofessionals Union joined together to recognize our district’s educators for their hard work.
Superintendent Neil Cavallaro, Assistant Superintendent Judy Drenzek, and President of the West Haven Federation of Teachers and School Nurses Kristen Malloy-Scanlon walked the hallways of each elementary school, and Carrigan Intermediate School, to hand-deliver gift cards Monday, to show their appreciation for all that our educators do for their students. Gift cards for Bailey and West Haven High School were distributed by steward representatives.
The gift cards will allow staff to buy lunch, dinner, and/or patronize a local establishment after hours. Additionally, not only are the gift cards a way to celebrate our incredible educators, but they will also help support local restaurants in West Haven. Some of the restaurants included in the gift cards are Duffy’s Tavern, 744 West, Cappetta’s, Lorenzo’s, Oak Beach Grill, Prospect Beach House, Dive Bar, and Riptide.
