Jamie Fryer

About: I am a literacy teacher at Seth Haley School. I'm in my 24th year of teaching, including 15 years at Haley. I taught special education for 4 years, first grade for 4 years, and have been teaching reading for the remainder of the time.

Hobbies: I love reading, shopping, and going to the beach and collecting sea glass with my daughter.

Fun Facts: I've taught special education and first grade in West Haven and have taught at Stiles, Mackrille, Pagels, and Forest, and now I've been at Haley as a literacy teacher for the majority of my career; I was on a Division 1 swim team in college; I love all types of shopping-antiquing, estate sales and collect all types of things!; I go to Rhode Island, Cape Cod, and/or Maine every summer with my family; I'm busy with my 2 children (12 and 14), and have a dog and a cat that were both rescued from the South.


Melissa Gilbert

About: This is my 24th year teaching and my second year as a Literacy Specialist. Previously I have taught first and second grade. I have been at Haley for 12 years and taught at Thompson for 12 years as well.

Hobbies: I love reading, going to the beach, and spending time with my family and friends.

Fun Facts: I worked for a minor league baseball team for 12 years; I have a son and a daughter who are in first and second grade.


Kathleen Weissman

About: I am a reading consultant. I love my job and get to help students and teachers. This is my 30th year teaching! I started at Washington and have been at Haley for over 10 years. I've also worked in 2 other districts where I was a classroom teacher in first and fourth grades, and I was a library media specialist for 2 years.

Hobbies: I've just gotten into pickleball and love it. I like yoga, hiking, and walking on the beach to find sea glass. I love zip-lining!

Fun Facts: My first degree was in economics, and I worked on Wall Street and at the World Trade Center in Building 5, one of the short buildings. My 2 rescue dogs are mother and son!
